Student Teacher Testimonials

"With 300 hours of teaching experience in addition to an intense linguistics teacher training course on the side, I have the practical experience and theoretical knowledge to teach anywhere in the world. Working with other trainees and alongside senior teachers means we always get to observe and be observed. This approach to teacher training is ideal for constantly improving one’s teaching methods."

"My favourite part of this course has been our students! As I said before, I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to work with children all over Austria. My favourite story so far is an impromptu Herman the Worm performance during a school wide Fasching event from a project week in the first month of our course. It was so exciting to watch all of the students join in! Only a quarter of the group were in the ABCi program but Herman the Worm (in perfect English) echoed through the halls the rest of the week."

"It is really useful to have the CertTESOL qualification – so many jobs ask for this in their requirements. Many more jobs and opportunities are now accessible for me and it’s great to be able to say that you’ve spent up to 300 hours in the classroom. Practical experience is what the employers are after, and this is certainly what you get here."
- Kate Wilkinson, Spring 2016

"This is one of the best valued teacher training courses I have ever heard of or been a part of. In comparison to private language schools that charge between $1,000 and $2,000 for a bare-minimum course length with limited teacher practice and observation opportunities, this course gives you the same certificate and a lot more teaching hours and opportunities."

"In contrast to what I’d previously known of EFL teaching, the active learning approach was a completely reenergising experience. Having centred my undergraduate dissertation on creative EFL teaching methodologies, I really appreciated the opportunity to put this research into practice. The ABCi lesson programme offers a great variety of language games and activities that optimise English learning, and is easy to familiarise yourself with. My prior experience of working with children was limited, however because the kids in Austria are great and enjoy the programme that ABCi teach, I found no problem in adjusting to their age and ability. In fact, it made me realise that it’s an age I’d enjoy continuing to teach."

"I was quite nervous before starting the programme as I had no prior experience of EFL teaching. Luckily, I was greeted with a smile and welcoming hello from a staff member at the ABCi office, which was reassuring. The training given with ABCi is very beneficial if you are thinking of pursuing a career in EFL teaching. As an ERASMUS student, it was interesting for me to see another side of teaching, one which I was definitely not familiar with! If you are studying teaching at university, I would recommend applying for the programme with an open mind. Active Learning is very different to traditional classroom teaching!"
